- SAN ANTONIO – University of the Incarnate Word football student-athlete Kelechi Anyalebechi was nominated to the 2022 Buck Buchanan Award Preseason Watch List, announced Stats Perform on Thursday. Anyalebechi, a finalist from the 2021 season, joins 35 FCS defensive standouts.
- Scott and Grimes Named to Walter Payton Award Watch ListSAN ANTONIO – Lindsey Scott Jr. and Taylor Grimes from the University of the Incarnate Word football team were named to the 2022 Walter Payton Award Preseason Watch List. The list, presented by Stat Perform, consists of 35 FCS standouts spanning across all 15 FCS conferences and includes 10 past finalists.
- Volleyball Announces 2022 ScheduleThe University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team has finalized its schedule, announced Friday. The Cardinals are set for 12 home matches at the McDermott Convocation Center and 14 road contests.
- Verriere Named UIW Interim Head Women’s Soccer CoachUniversity of the Incarnate Word Athletic Director Richard Duran named Marc Verriere the Interim Head Women's Soccer Coach, he announced Monday. Verriere comes to UIW from the San Antonio Athenians Soccer Club and the Juventus Academy San Antonio after serving as each program's head coach.
- Grimes and Anyalebechi Earn Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America HonorsSAN ANTONIO -- University of the Incarnate Word football student-athletes, wide receiver Taylor Grimes and linebacker Kelechi Anyalebechi, have been named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America team.
- Four Track & Field Student-Athletes Named USTFCCCA All-AmericansFour student-athletes from the University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's track and field programs – Parker Barrett, Matheo Bernat, Gabrielle Thomas and Abby Gray – were named Academic All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
- Stevens Promoted to Deputy Athletic DirectorSAN ANTONIO – University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) Athletic Director Richard Duran announced the promotion of DaShena Stevens to Deputy Athletic Director on June 1. Stevens came to UIW in January 2021 as the Assistant Athletic Director of Business and Finance. In September of 2021, she moved to Associate Athletic Director of Internal Operations before being promoted to deputy.
- Women’s Soccer Announces 2022 Southland Conference ScheduleSAN ANTONIO – University of the Incarnate Word Athletic Director Richard Duran announced the team's 2022 Southland Conference schedule on Monday. The Cardinals kick off SLC play at Northwestern State University before hosting Texas A&M -Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium on Sunday, September 18 at 1 p.m.
- Volleyball Earns USMC-AVCA Team Academic AwardSAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team earned the United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award. The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of a 3.3 or higher.
- Swimming and Diving Joins MPSFSAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word Athletic Department announced the men's and women's swimming and diving program has joined the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), effective immediately. UIW fencing and artistic swimming both completed their first season in the MPSF in 2021-22.
